Christmas Has Come And Gone.
I guess these pictures need some explaining. The one of the power lines and such are the view from the g-parents porch on the mountain. Old fashioned one which I think is pretty neat is my grandad playing the mandolin a few years ago... ;) and the one of him playing the fiddle is him jammin with his buds.
NOW BEGINS THE POST.
Welp. It has been a while since I last clicked "New Post" on the ole blogspot. My apologies to my 4 followers. You all are too kind.
This Christmas was oh so good. I'm going to go ahead and tell you. I got a George Foreman Quesadilla maker people!!! It is something special. So from that to the many gift cards I received it was a Christmas to be thankful for.
Lemme give you a little break down of what went down from Christmas until now.
Christmas day we drove to Seiverville, Tennessee up in the Smoky Mountains to visit my moms parents. But before we got to the house we stopped at the good ole Proffitt family reunion (my moms maiden name). And for entertainment per-say my grandad played a little bluegrass. It was awesome. The fiddle, banjo, and guitar were completely shredded. So then we made over the river and through the woods... to grandmothers house we go! Opened presents there the next day then ventured to Jefferson City, Tennessee to stay with my dad's parents for a couple days. We also opened presents and really just kicked back and relaxed.
On the way home, we stopped and ate at Sticky Fingers... Ribs galore. Simply incredible.
Tonight we had ourselves a little dinner party over at Jana and Buck's. Jana made a heck of a meal. ;) And of course Buck and I had to jam out to some old school rap, Run DMC and such.
Wow. How could I forget. Tennessee plays a little football game tomorrow against Virginia Tech in the Chick fil a bowl. Pops and I will most definitely be there for the WIN. We hope. Love those Christmas surprises pops. You da man.
I honestly cannot describe to you how excited I am for the next week or so. Saturday through Tuesday is Passion which will be out of this world. I mean Hillsong United will be there. Come on. And then I'm... Eh I'll write about that a little later.
I'll leave you with some words from DMC
This speech is my recital, I think it's very vital
To rock a rhyme, that's right on time
It's Tricky is the title, here we go...

Yep, It Really Is Christmas Tomorrow.
I sure cannot believe that Christmas is really tomorrow. I guess time fly's when all you do over the break is sleep and run...
This may be a little cliche, but I am going to give you some insight on some Davidson family Christmas memories and traditions. It has become a tradition that every Christmas Eve we order Papa John's pizza, and we get to open one present (its pajama's every year) and watch a movie. The past couple years it has been Elf,
Now we have moved on to the classic VHS tapes of home videos. Yes videos of a tiny me, with curly blonde hair, and a sister with quite a southern accent. This time always brings back great memories and a couple hours of laughter.
Unfortunate memory: One Christmas Eve we were all about to go to bed and I decided to have a ridiculous nose bleed, I never have nose bleeds.
Reoccurring memory: When I was a wee little lad I was always so much more excited about what my sister got. I would always look at what she had before I even laid eyes on the goodies that santa had left me.
Favorite gift: I'm going to have to give that to the stereo. I do not believe I have ever been more excited for something in my life as a child. I mean I got a stereo, not a little tape player, folks. It was a huge deal...
This Christmas I do not even know what to expect. At this time in my life I do not really need a stereo or a sega genesis, or a stretch armstrong (although if I could have one thing back from my childhood, it would be that). Although I do have something in mind that would be pretty incredible if I got...:)
Could be more to come on these thoughts.
Merry Christmas folks.

So I saw Avatar. And I didn't recycle the glasses either...
Yeah those are my 3D glasses that are mine forever.
Yeah, so I saw Avatar. Am I nerd? I'll let you decide.
I am usually not one to see scifi-ish movies but Luke Swilley insisted that I accompany he and Peyton and so of course I did...
My thoughts going into the movie were, "This dang movie better be worth every bit of $14.75 I paid for it." Well folks, I am pretty sure it was worth another quarter too. I have never quite seen a movie like this one. It even had a romantic-ish plot line. I mean of course... So the movie was good. Go see it once. Twice if you feel asleep because it was so long. Or three times if you are just ridiculous.
Now before that righteous movie experience i took place in my dad and I went gun shopping. I really want a shotgun for Christmas. Not because I'm from Georgia and I want to be a redneck. That is not it. I mean how incredible is it to have that kind of power? Pretty awesome. If you're into that kind of thing.
Shopping with the mother tomorrow. It should be a heck of a time!
Well I started this post kind of late and I am paying for it... Eyes are heavy fingers are spazzin (not really). I'm just tired.
May the force be with you?

I Will Not Sleep All Break.
Hello friends,
Oh what a break it has been thus far. I have done so much. NOT. I tend to sleep past noon everyday. If you know my dad at all you know that he will indeed give me crap for this. I thought I was just sleeping late from being tired from school, but I honestly do not think that excuse is valid anymore... I mean sorry I am such a good sleeper! I have been and while keep a running schedule. Yes, running. Weird I know. Ever since that 5K I have felt an urge that won't subside to run. So I have decided this break I will feed that ever present urge to live a healthy life. Now, yesterday I did wake up around 1, BUT I did do something fun and physical. David, Luke, and I went climbed Stone Mountain. For anyone who does not know of this mountain I am talking about let me give you some fast facts... Stone Mountain is the largest know granite foundation, and there is a massive carving right in the middle of the rock displaying Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. Now, to really get the full experience of Stone Mountain one would need to attend the spectacular Laser show that is shown upon the huge piece of granite. So Stone Mountain is a pretty cool place, especially if you want to get some good exercise again because I am not going to lie, I was sucking wind when I reached the top.
I wonder what today will bring?
Well I do know I am helping my dad clean our gutters... but that's probably about it.
I'm going to get a job.
Don't take Stone Mountain for granite.
HA! That joke just doesn't get old.
Oh. I think I found my ukulele inspiration on youtube...

Home For The Holidays. And Then Some.
First semester of my Sophomore year have come and gone. Yeah it is quite ridiculous to think about. It has flown by and I don't know if I'm okay with that. It has been a good year in that I think I have found what I want to major in. Journalism and Mass Communications. Sounds pretty cool huh? We will soon find out.
Concerning this break: I don't really know what to expect. We are doing the usual go to Tennessee trip after Christmas, spend time with the family. Then I come back and go to Passion which is going to rock my world and I cannot wait. Then a possible trip to Louisville, Kentucky, which could also be a heck of a time. But then after that I still have like 3 weeks to work or what not. Gotta get that cash money right?
Im going to back track a little bit and fill you in on some shenanigans that took place Thursday night. We had ourselves a bonfire, rather a bonfire to celebrate a stress-free, no more finals night... And it did not disappoint. Next day woke up and started packing my stuff up and also helping Kelsey with her enormous amount of stuff... :) Then finally traveled home all 2 and a half hours, sorry all you mid-westerners who have to travel hours upon hours. Got home and kicked it with the 49+'s, which was always fun. Like a worn out body should, I slept till about 12 and then accompanied Mr. David Swilley to the mall to Christmas shop for his family. Now I'm going to share with you all the best part of my day yesterday...
David's dog Buck decided he really wanted one of David's pretzel sticks, so as any desperate dog would, Buck pouted until he got one. Well little did we know Buck's stomach could not take that salty greatness. He threw up. Not just a little bit, HIS WHOLE STOMACH! Lee, David, and I all start laughing and I slowly make way into another room. I would have thrown up as well if I hadn't of exited the room... No doubt about it. So like a good dog owner David goes outside to get the infamous pooper-scooper to clean that mess up. He gets it all in there and walks outside to where I am and dumps it out. BUT while David is explaining the sheer nastiness of this ordeal he starts gagging and throwing up!!!
David: "Dude that was the nasti-bahhhhhhhhh (throw-up sound)" Me:"Bahahahahahahaha"
Made my night.
Enough for now. I feel as if this post is going nowhere.
Oh. If you don't know who I am referring to when I said I was kickin it with the 49+'s. Those are my parents.

Would like to be up in the Woods.
With this hectic life I call my own I have not had much time to sit down, gather my thoughts, and interpret them in a "post" form. So I do apologize for the absence of my posts for the past couple days. I don't really have a valid excuse, but I will inform you that I ran a 5k on Saturday called the Jingle Bell Run (in North Pole weather). I just have an inkling that this could be a lengthy and juicy post. Lucky you. Lucky you.
I just wrote roughly around 500 words on this post to tell you about a 10 minute play I had to do about me being awkward and being infected with poison ivy during connections. Then I realized that it was going no where. So I deleted. Sorry, if you really wanna know just ask.
Well I finally ran that stupid 5k for concepts and I'm glad to say I ran it in 43 minutes.
Ha just kidding, I ran it in 17:56. And I'm so glad it is over with, but I'm still sore and bitter because of it.
Gotta give props to that accumulation of snow. That was righteous. But I do think it should have been postponed till after I ran the 5k. 29 degree weather tends to just freeze the lungs. So the snow was appreciated nonetheless. And I know this because of the mass status updates. "OMG it is actually snowing at Samford! How cool!" or "I have never seen snow before!" Kinda got out of hand there people, and you know who you are.
Geez how could I forget to mention my first event thing for SAC. It was a great success. From lighting candles to sitting criss-cross applesauce on the floor in Harry's listening to Act of Congress covering High and Dry by Radiohead. So thankful to be involved with Samford, doing work with what I love. Which is music, or anything remotely close to music.
These thoughts of mind are very stream of consciousness-esk. So I apologize if you're not into that kind of thing.
For any of you who know my love for Justin Vernon (as a singer, duh) just know that it is only growing stronger. So strong that on average I listen to about 10 songs a day by anything that he sings in. That falsetto is oh so intriguing to me. And since I have gotten the, "Hey you look like Justin Vernon" thing I kinda just run with it. I guess you could say I bask in it. haha
I mean seriously, this dude spent a month or so in a cabin in the woods in Wisconsin to try to get some rest because of his case of Mononucleosis, which sounds pretty painful. But this dude just takes a guitar and decides to start singing in falsetto and what comes out of that time by himself will be remember for a long long long time. And man do I appreciate it. Can't say enough about the man.
Kelsey Boone I just wanna say thank you for FINALLY putting up the much anticipated formal pictures. They were more than expected. The picture up top was just a little taste of the flavorful night that went down.
Im going to stop now before I completely lose you people.
Thanks for reading. Ya got a good heart if you stuck with me through this.
More to come soon. I hope.
P.S. If you think I really ran a 5k in 17 minutes you're crazy. I struggled to get 27 minutes.

I WILL NOT GET SICK OVER THE HOLIDAYS.
Well friends, I trust that you all have had an abundance of momma/grandma's heavenly cooking by now. I know I sure did; Karen Davidson sure can cook a good thanksgiving meal! There is not much better than eating an unhealthy portion of thanksgiving feast and then crawling on to the couch and falling into a tryptophan induced coma. I know for a fact that it is something special. I just woke up from one 5 minutes ago. Not even a coldplay show on tv could wake me up.
Today has not disappointed at all. Woke up, ate some homemade bread, watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, chilled with pops watching tv, then the heavenly meal I spoke about earlier, then came the first 7 minutes and 37 seconds of the football game then I was out like a light. The tryptophan just owned my body at that point. Of course I did not fight this what so ever.
Plans for tonight are pretty simple, The Blindside with the family, then LEFTOVERS!!!! Such a great day.
In regards to the title of this post: My dad is sick and at the doctor right now, yes on Thanksgiving. :( And well, I think I may have been bit buy the same stupid sick bug he got eaten up by. But the tryptophan nap did help a little bit... Any who, I am taking measures to fight sickness. No one wants to be sick at home and then have to drive back to school without yo momma taking care of you. Do not deny it you tough guys, moms make everything better.
The question that has been ringing creepily in my head all day? What are you thankful for MATT??
Well, in no particular order, I am thankful for my education right about now, not thankful for how much it costs. I am thankful for my friends, I can not describe to you how much I cherish my friends. Friends, you help my world go round. My family, woah I love them. I've missed my family more than anything the past few months, so it is such a sweet thing to be around them for a few days. I am thankful for Itunes. I am thankful for anything Justin Vernon has ever done musically. I am thankful that he too is struggling with thinning of the hair as well. I am simply thankful for music. Thats a good amount of thankfulness. I may make another list in a couple weeks or something.
So have I told yall about tryptophan?
Only kidding.
Watch this video. It may or may not be funnier the second time you watch it.

Three cheers for turkey and everything else associated with thanksgiving feast!
Tryptophan Rocks!!

Back off Im going home.
Well geez it feels good to be home. I have been waiting so long to come home for break and I am finally here... Sitting on the couch, sister sitting on the floor below me justa going to town on her computer, mom watching dancing with stars, and pops behind me on the computer. And that's the way I like it, just kickin it with the family.
By the way Whitney Houston still has it. NOT. - she's on dancing with the stars singing-
On my trek back to Lilburn I encountered an impatient driver. So impatient that he felt the need to ride about a foot away from the back of my car. I will have you know it could not have been because of slow driving. The speed limit was 70 and I was pushing 85. I'll admit I was a little aggravated, and as most guys do they just stay in that lane and if they "tailgater" tries to speed up and pass us we just push that gas a little harder. Yeah, so I did that. THEN, (this is the best part) I thought, wait I am going a little too fast, maybe I should just make this dudes day and get over. So I did, and about 2 or 3 miles down the road I see the exact same dude getting frisked outside his car by a cop! Thats right, back off my tail son!
If that doesn't make you feel good on an eager drive home to your mother I dont know what will.
Before I leave you all I must share a little bit about my night last night. I attended the J. Tillman show with some quality ladies: Ann Monsor, Kelsey Boone, and Kristen Blanton. I do not think it gets better than this people. haha
I really did not know what to expect going to this show. All I knew was that he plays with Fleet Foxes, so I know he will be pretty dang good. The dudes got talent. From random, on his knees playing of his gong to the spazzing tambourine thrashing. So very entertaining. My recommendation of his music would have to be When I Light Your Darkened Door.
No worries folks I'll put a couple links if you're really are serious about hearing J.

Hit/ Home Coming
It was a hit.
The suit weathered the storm of a Chi O formal. Through the rain, the tuscan cuisine, and of course the fast moving hips of me. Take that comment as you may.
So the suit worked, and I was glad.
On to a more familiar subject, HOME.
I am going home in about two days and I do not think I have been more ready. I don't think I have come down with homesick epidemic, but maybe a cousin of it. Between school, concerts, meetings, friends, and of course real vintage suits I have missed being irresponsible at home. I mean really. When I was in high school all I had to worry about was school and well I guess thats about it. And I thought that was tough. College is no joke people. I've got some envy inside me towards all you high schoolers. Needless to say I want to be home for a couple days, doing not much at all, and clean clothes from our 25 year old washer and dryer that can clean clothes with the best of them. And may we not forget why I am going home. Thanksgiving. Which means a home cooked meal from Karen Davidson. Which also means the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. And which also means Christmas music can now begin its reign in the Davidson household and everywhere the Davidson family may venture off to in my dad's car.
Enough for now.

An aged suit. Hit or Miss.
Why not wear a 30 year old suit that your pops used to rock back in the day? I do not think you can get more vintage than that...

Numero Uno; First Timer
First off, can I say that facebook probably consumes about 5 hours of my day. I don't think that is so good.
I'm jumping on the blog band wagon and I don't care who knows!!
Yesterday I got a little letter in the mail reveling that I had gotten SAC ( Student Activities Council for all you non-samforders). I could not be more excited about this opportunity. Im in love with music or anything that remotely has to do with some tunes so I figured this little council of event genius' would be a good fit for me. Of course I had to call the parents and let them know the news that their son is slowly but surely getting involved in the Samford world of committees and councils. They were thrilled. Words from my mother, "Oh maaaatt,(in a somewhat country accent) I just knew you were going to get that letter today in the mail. I prayed about it before I went to work!" I've got a great mother...
Thats about all for now I suppose.
Thanksgiving is coming upon us swiftly. Yes please.
