Would like to be up in the Woods.
With this hectic life I call my own I have not had much time to sit down, gather my thoughts, and interpret them in a "post" form. So I do apologize for the absence of my posts for the past couple days. I don't really have a valid excuse, but I will inform you that I ran a 5k on Saturday called the Jingle Bell Run (in North Pole weather). I just have an inkling that this could be a lengthy and juicy post. Lucky you. Lucky you.
I just wrote roughly around 500 words on this post to tell you about a 10 minute play I had to do about me being awkward and being infected with poison ivy during connections. Then I realized that it was going no where. So I deleted. Sorry, if you really wanna know just ask.
Well I finally ran that stupid 5k for concepts and I'm glad to say I ran it in 43 minutes.
Ha just kidding, I ran it in 17:56. And I'm so glad it is over with, but I'm still sore and bitter because of it.
Gotta give props to that accumulation of snow. That was righteous. But I do think it should have been postponed till after I ran the 5k. 29 degree weather tends to just freeze the lungs. So the snow was appreciated nonetheless. And I know this because of the mass status updates. "OMG it is actually snowing at Samford! How cool!" or "I have never seen snow before!" Kinda got out of hand there people, and you know who you are.
Geez how could I forget to mention my first event thing for SAC. It was a great success. From lighting candles to sitting criss-cross applesauce on the floor in Harry's listening to Act of Congress covering High and Dry by Radiohead. So thankful to be involved with Samford, doing work with what I love. Which is music, or anything remotely close to music.
These thoughts of mind are very stream of consciousness-esk. So I apologize if you're not into that kind of thing.
For any of you who know my love for Justin Vernon (as a singer, duh) just know that it is only growing stronger. So strong that on average I listen to about 10 songs a day by anything that he sings in. That falsetto is oh so intriguing to me. And since I have gotten the, "Hey you look like Justin Vernon" thing I kinda just run with it. I guess you could say I bask in it. haha
I mean seriously, this dude spent a month or so in a cabin in the woods in Wisconsin to try to get some rest because of his case of Mononucleosis, which sounds pretty painful. But this dude just takes a guitar and decides to start singing in falsetto and what comes out of that time by himself will be remember for a long long long time. And man do I appreciate it. Can't say enough about the man.
Kelsey Boone I just wanna say thank you for FINALLY putting up the much anticipated formal pictures. They were more than expected. The picture up top was just a little taste of the flavorful night that went down.
Im going to stop now before I completely lose you people.
Thanks for reading. Ya got a good heart if you stuck with me through this.
More to come soon. I hope.
P.S. If you think I really ran a 5k in 17 minutes you're crazy. I struggled to get 27 minutes.
Matt
